Foothills K-9 Association fundraiser at Animal Nutrition Center
Sunday, May 03 2009, 11:00am - 3:00pm Hits : 206
Together with the Foothills K-9 Association ( www.foothillsk9.org ) the Placer County Sheriff’s
Department releases the following:

Sandy Stearns and Julie Baldwin at Animal Nutrition Center in Roseville have begun a
fundraising effort to replace the aging protective ballistic vests for the 15 law enforcement
canines working in 4 different agencies within Placer County.
The fundraiser involves tickets for dog food for a year for twelve winners, a two night
stay at the Resort at Squaw Creek, cedar dog houses, dog beds, several dinners for four at
local restaurants and much more. The tickets are for sale up until the day of the event.
On Sunday, May 3rd 2009 from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. the drawings will be held at
Animal Nutrition Center at 1805 Cirby Way Suite 10 in Roseville, California (916) 782-7300.
There will be pet suppliers on hand and the event will encompass the parking lot as
well as the store. There will also be canine handlers and their canine partners. You will be
able to meet and pet these dogs, then see them do narcotics detection and patrol/
apprehension demonstrations.
These vests last for five years. Although they are not inexpensive, this is a very worthy
cause done on behalf of our canine partners and friends who give us their loyalty, courage,
honor and hard work every day.
The effort hopes to raise enough money to replace vests for all 15 dogs in Placer
County, which work in a patrol related function. They include dogs from the Placer County
Sheriff’s Department, the Roseville Police Department, the Rocklin Police Department and
the Lincoln Police Department.
You can get more information by contacting the Team Coordinator for the Placer
County Sheriff’s Department’s Canine Unit, Deputy Shawn Rosner at (530) 308-1483 or
