The new Auburn Whitewater park, about 3 miles below the North and Middle Fork American river confluence will be opening in May and Sierra Outdoor Center is organizing this event with the help of the local authorities. Events will include rodeo, slalom and downriver races.
Roads to the China Bar Park will open for weekends only during May and temporary slalom gates will be set up 2 weeks prior to the event. For the event the local authorities are opening roads from both the Auburn side and the Cool side of the river with raft shuttle at the river for those who need to cross over. There will be an access/parking fee of $5.00.
Downriver event will be run from the North and Middle Fork confluence to the play park. They expect to have classes for short, long and wild-water boats.
Registration is planned for 8AM on race day at the park and shuttles for the downriver racers will be arranged from there to the put in.
Sierra Outdoors is looking for volunteers to help with the event, so if you can help, please call. |
